About the Keyswitch PCB

Keyswitch is an open source PCB design by JeremyJStarcher, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 357.2 × 140.5 mm, with 160 components from 156 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MAX7219. By type, the board carries 76 diodes, 71 switches, 4 connectors, 4 capacitors, 3 resistors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards and retro computing designs in this gallery.

From the project

Retro Keyboards for emulators

The purpose of this project is to set up a tools to make it easier to create a custom keyboard to use retro-style computers on modern emulators.

This includes the PCB, keycaps and (in time) a case.

Python 3.10 OpenSCAD KiCad VcCode (other editors will work but may require configuration)

All of the Python scripts run in a virtual environment which will allow them to access privately installed libraries.

Keyswitch: common questions

How big is the Keyswitch PCB?

The Keyswitch measures 357.2 × 140.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keyswitch?

160 components, from 156 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keyswitch design files?

From the JeremyJStarcher/retro-keys repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keyswitch design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with JeremyJStarcher. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
