About the Power-Reference-Board

Power-Reference-Board is an open source STM32 PCB design by jhuang0701, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 60 × 60 mm, with 58 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G474RETx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the DRV8353HRTAT, ICM-42688-P and TPS54331DR. By type, the board carries 25 capacitors, 16 resistors, 4 ICs, 1 transistor, 1 connector and 1 fuse.

It belongs with the robotics & motion, sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

4-layer FOC BLDC motor driver PCB with onboard IMU (STM32G474, DRV8353HRTAT, ICM-42688-P), designed in KiCad for a self-balancing robot demo. Schematic + layout complete, DRC-clean.

A custom 4-layer PCB for field-oriented control (FOC) of a brushless DC motor, with an onboard IMU for real-time orientation feedback. Designed in KiCad, targeting a self-balancing single-wheel robot or reaction-wheel inverted pendulum as the demo application.

This is a design-only project: schematic and layout are complete and DRC-clean. Fabrication is a separate decision, not yet made.

Power-Reference-Board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Power-Reference-Board use?

The Power-Reference-Board is built around the STM32G474RETx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Power-Reference-Board?

The Power-Reference-Board measures 60 × 60 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Power-Reference-Board?

58 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Power-Reference-Board design files?

From the jhuang0701/Power-Reference-Board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Power-Reference-Board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jhuang0701. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Power-Reference-Board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
