About the Cpld cpu PCB

Cpld cpu is an open source PCB design by jimmo, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 259.1 × 198.1 mm, with 435 components from 48 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the Acc, X, IR, Multiplexer and Decoder. By type, the board carries 209 resistors, 131 diodes, 53 capacitors, 16 connectors, 14 ICs and 12 switches.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

A simple CPU implemented by discrete CPLD components.

This is a project to create a demonstration CPU that is simple enough to be able to watch its execution but also able to do something almost useful.

It was inspired by the following five projects: - Fourbit, by Jaromir Sukuba. This is a 4-bit CPU made entirely from 74xx series logic. - Tiny CPU in a CPLD, by Big Mess o' Wires. This implements a whole CPU inside a single Altera CPLD. - MCPU, by Tim Böscke (and writeup, by Jean-Claude Wippler). Similar to above, but using the exact CPLD that I was intending to use, and with a really well-documented and practical ISA. - The Megaprocessor, by…
