About the Q2 PCB
Q2 is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by joewing, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 198 × 278 mm, with 1653 components from 26 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the C9138, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the LY6264SL-70LLI and CAT809JTBI-GT3. By type, the board carries 1016 transistors, 463 resistors, 96 diodes, 44 capacitors, 23 switches and 3 ICs.
From the project
12-bit single-board discrete transistor computer
Hardware for the Q2 12-bit bit-serial single-board discrete transistor computer.
The Q2 is a dual-layer PCB about the size of a sheet of paper allowing it to be fabricated just about anywhere. For assembly, the BOM is stored with the schematic to reference the necessary surface-mount components. Due to the large number of components, I use a turn-key assembly service. Although numerous, all of the components are fairly standard making them cheap and widely available.

Q2: common questions
What microcontroller does the Q2 use?
The Q2 is built around the C9138, from the Raspberry Pi family.
How big is the Q2 PCB?
The Q2 measures 198 × 278 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Q2?
1653 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Q2 design files?
From the joewing/q2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Q2 design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with joewing. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Q2 without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
