About the Lp kbb PCB

Lp kbb is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by jpt1729, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 352.4 × 101.8 mm, with 211 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 68 switches, 67 LEDs, 67 diodes, 8 capacitors and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is a low profile 65% keyboard with a rotary encoder (for volume + mute/unmute). This project uses Gateron's ks33 switches and their respective hotswap sockets. This is all on top of a skeletal 3d printed case. (also texas themed)

I made this project because 1 I just want a custom keyboard and 2 the keyboard I want kinda doesn't exist. I don't haven't really seen these keyboard with the skeletal cases or chamfered edges so I kinda wanted to make it + its texas themed :).

Lp kbb: common questions

What microcontroller does the Lp kbb use?

The Lp kbb is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Lp kbb PCB?

The Lp kbb measures 352.4 × 101.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Lp kbb?

211 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Lp kbb design files?

From the jpt1729/lp-kbb repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Lp kbb design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jpt1729. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Lp kbb without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
