About the Eaf PCB

Eaf is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by jrhuerta, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 42.5 × 43.5 mm, with 6 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the DRV8825. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 2 modules and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

EAF compatible myFocuserPro2 build

A DIY electronic telescope focuser engineered for heavy imaging trains and designed to be physically compatible with standard EAF mounting brackets. Simply order the PCB from JLCPCB or PCBWay, solder a few components, 3D print the enclosure, and you'll have a robust focuser capable of handling substantial camera and filter wheel setups at a fraction of commercial prices.

Eaf: common questions

What microcontroller does the Eaf use?

The Eaf is built around the Arduino_Nano, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Eaf PCB?

The Eaf measures 42.5 × 43.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Eaf?

6 components, from 6 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Eaf design files?

From the jrhuerta/eaf repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Eaf design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jrhuerta. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Eaf without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
