About the CbARM PCB

CbARM is an open source PCB design by jshpatw, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 145.5 × 82.5 mm, with 28 components from 8 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 74HC595 and POLOLU_BREAKOUT_A4988. By type, the board carries 12 connectors, 7 modules, 7 capacitors and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

robot arm, currently a robotics related project for Hack Club Shenzhen’s fallout hackathon

A 5-DOF (Degrees of Freedom) robot arm designed for high scalability, low cost, and ease of assembly using common makerspace materials.

I always wanted an interactable robotic arm. But, online, the cheap ones cant lift any substancial weight and the good ones are very unaffordable. Most arms also came in fixed sizes and usally had a short range of motion. By making this prodject, I hope to adress theese 3 problems.

CbARM: common questions

How big is the CbARM PCB?

The CbARM measures 145.5 × 82.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CbARM?

28 components, from 8 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CbARM design files?

From the jshpatw/cbARM repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CbARM design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with jshpatw. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
