About the Research PCB

Research is an open source PCB design by kalebwu41, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 52 × 35 mm, with 33 components from 16 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the ADXL362, ADS1220IPWR, DS3231MZ_TRL, 74LVC1G32 and 74LVC1G74DP,125. By type, the board carries 12 capacitors, 12 resistors, 5 ICs, 2 connectors, 1 transistor and 1 diode.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Event-triggered structural health monitoring pod. A geophone and an accelerometer watch for impact events; an FPGA buffers the waveform while the microcontroller sleeps, and the MCU wakes only when something happens, classifies the event, and reports it.

KiCAD-MCP-Server/ may be present locally. It is a clone of a third-party tool and is deliberately gitignored — it is not part of the build.

Research: common questions

How big is the Research PCB?

The Research measures 52 × 35 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Research?

33 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Research design files?

From the kalebwu41/research repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Research design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kalebwu41. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
