About the PDX PCB

PDX is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by kholia, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 97.1 × 97 mm, with 86 components from 56 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the CD2003GB_GP, SI535X_Module, 74ACT244, uSDX_LPF_BAND_MODULE and CDIL_7805_TO220. By type, the board carries 28 capacitors, 10 diodes, 10 resistors, 6 connectors, 6 test points and 5 ICs.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

Easy Digital 'FT8' Transceiver. Easy-Transceiver v0.01.

A port of https://github.com/WB2CBA/ADX/ to Raspberry Pi Pico.

The live FT8 audio can also be decoded on PC / RPi / Android phone.

Note: The PCB part is WIP (work-in-progress) at the moment.

- Easy inbuilt and self-sufficient Si5351 calibration

- Native FT8 decoding on the Pico (via AA1GD)

- Native spotting (reporting to PSKReporter.info)

- Inbuilt BCI (broadcast interference) filter

PDX: common questions

What microcontroller does the PDX use?

The PDX is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the PDX PCB?

The PDX measures 97.1 × 97 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PDX?

86 components, from 56 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PDX design files?

From the kholia/Easy-Transceiver repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PDX design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kholia. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the PDX without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
