About the HM-Collector-Rev2 PCB

HM-Collector-Rev2 is an open source STM32 PCB design by konstantinosfragkoulis, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 37.5 × 29.5 mm, with 87 components from 34 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32U595RJTXQ, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the TPS7A2033PDBVR, AD8232ACPZ-R7, ST1VAFE6AXTR and W25Q128JVS. By type, the board carries 35 capacitors, 32 resistors, 7 diodes, 6 ICs, 4 connectors and 2 crystals.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Bare metal STM32U5 health monitor capturing synchronized ECG & SCG signals.

Bare metal wearable for real-time Electrocardiogram (ECG), Seismocardiogram (SCG), and respiratory rate extraction.

Core Stack: STM32U5 (Cortex-M33) | ST1VAFE6AX (6-axis IMU) | AD8232 (ECG AFE)

The main loop runs three independent DSP pipelines on-device:

ECG (Pan-Tompkins++): Bandpass -> derivative -> squaring -> flattop smoothing -> MWI. Uses adaptive thresholding with search-back for real-time R-peak detection [1]. SCG (Template Matching NCC): Accel Z-axis (dorso-ventral) filtered at 7-30 Hz. Bootstraps a heartbeat template during the first 10s via a 4th-power envelope and pairwise NCC…

HM-Collector-Rev2: common questions

What microcontroller does the HM-Collector-Rev2 use?

The HM-Collector-Rev2 is built around the STM32U595RJTXQ, from the STM32 family.

How big is the HM-Collector-Rev2 PCB?

The HM-Collector-Rev2 measures 37.5 × 29.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HM-Collector-Rev2?

87 components, from 34 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HM-Collector-Rev2 design files?

From the konstantinosfragkoulis/HealthMonitor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HM-Collector-Rev2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which konstantinosfragkoulis chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the HM-Collector-Rev2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
