Its main chip is the STM32C092GCU6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LM5164DDAR, INA237AIDGSR and TCAN3413DR. By type, the board carries 22 capacitors, 22 resistors, 11 connectors, 5 ICs, 4 transistors and 3 inductors.

From the project

Hardware, firmware, and host tooling for a modular mini-rack power system.

This directory contains the finalized Generation-2 backplane: backplane.kicadpro, backplane.kicadsch, backplane.kicadpcb, and backplane.kicaddru.

The PCB in this directory is the mechanical authority for the board outline, airflow cutouts, mounting holes, and six slot-connector footprints and placement. The carrier is the electrical authority for circuitry shared between the two boards, including the slot pinout, STM32, CAN transceiver, current sensor, and slot connector pinout.

Backplane Prototype: common questions

What microcontroller does the Backplane Prototype use?

The Backplane Prototype is built around the STM32C092GCU6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Backplane Prototype PCB?

The Backplane Prototype measures 151.8 × 30.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Backplane Prototype?

70 components, from 35 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Backplane Prototype design files?

From the kquinsland/modular-rack-mount-power-system repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Backplane Prototype design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kquinsland. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Backplane Prototype without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
