About the LocalTrack PCB

LocalTrack is an open source STM32 PCB design by krakrukra, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 50 × 75 mm, with 59 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F072C8T6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the ADXL345BCCZ, IP4220CZ6, MCP73831T-2DCI, W25N01GVZEIG and MCP1700-3302E/TT. By type, the board carries 20 resistors, 15 capacitors, 8 ICs, 6 transistors, 3 diodes and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the rf & radio designs in this gallery.

From the project

OSHW GPS Tracker (Logger)

This device is an open source (both firmware and board level design) GPS data logger. You mount it with built-in magnets on some vehicle, flip the power switch and the location data is saved into internal flash storage. After some tracks were recorded, you can retrieve the device again and extract GPX track files via USB. You can then pass these files into mapping/analysis software of your choice, for example viking, to get an easy to work with representation of recorded location data.

LocalTrack: common questions

What microcontroller does the LocalTrack use?

The LocalTrack is built around the STM32F072C8T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the LocalTrack PCB?

The LocalTrack measures 50 × 75 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.89 mm thick.

How many components are on the LocalTrack?

59 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the LocalTrack design files?

From the krakrukra/LocalTrack repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the LocalTrack design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which krakrukra chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the LocalTrack without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
