About the Focus-Totem PCB

Focus-Totem is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Kvin-21, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 84 × 72 mm, with 13 components from 9 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 4 switches, 3 resistors, 2 diodes, 2 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

Twist the encoder to dial in the minutes, press to start, and the two side LEDs breathe along with the session - amber while setting up, green while the clock is running, red for the last minute, and then a flash when done. The OLED shows the live countdown and where you are (FOCUS / BREAK / DONE).

It's a 4-input hackpad built around a through-hole Seeed XIAO RP2040 and runs QMK, so it doubles as a tiny macropad.

Focus-Totem: common questions

What microcontroller does the Focus-Totem use?

The Focus-Totem is built around the XIAO-RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Focus-Totem PCB?

The Focus-Totem measures 84 × 72 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Focus-Totem?

13 components, from 9 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Focus-Totem design files?

From the Kvin-21/Focus-Totem-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Focus-Totem design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Kvin-21. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Focus-Totem without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
