About the Keeboard PCB

Keeboard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by KyleDavis2200, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 363.1 × 139.9 mm, with 178 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Raspberry_Pi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 88 diodes, 87 switches, 2 connectors and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

In this project, I made a custom mechanical keyboard using a Raspberry Pi Pico clone. The main feature that makes this unique is the connectors on either side of the board that allow it to be connected to external modules. I plan to make a wireless macropad / numberpad in a futur

In this project, I made a custom mechanical keyboard using a Raspberry Pi Pico clone. The main feature that makes this unique is the connectors on either side of the board that allow it to be connected to external modules. I plan to make a wireless macropad / numberpad in a future project, that can be connected to either side of the keyboard to charge. These connectors will also include I²C communication, which should give me the option of adding more features, such as a screen, in the future.

Keeboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Keeboard use?

The Keeboard is built around the Raspberry_Pi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Keeboard PCB?

The Keeboard measures 363.1 × 139.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keeboard?

178 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keeboard design files?

From the KyleDavis2200/Keeboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keeboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with KyleDavis2200. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Keeboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
