About the Twin PCB

Twin is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Las-Vejas, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 78 × 72.8 mm, with 96 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. Other key parts include the MCP1700x-330xxTT, ESP32-C6-MINI-1 and W25Q16JVSS. By type, the board carries 37 diodes, 23 capacitors, 16 switches, 13 resistors, 4 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A macropad for both your computer and Home Assistant.

I built this because I wanted a central place to control both my home/room, and my computer at the same time. This device switches between the Home Assistant mode and PC mode with a click of a button and you receive all the feedback through the 25 leds on board.

This macropad contains: - 14 underglow leds - 11 switches (with leds underneath) - RP2040 - ESP32-C6 - 1 rotary encoder

Twin: common questions

What microcontroller does the Twin use?

The Twin is built around the RP2040, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Twin PCB?

The Twin measures 78 × 72.8 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Twin?

96 components, from 23 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Twin design files?

From the Las-Vejas/Twin repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Twin design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Las-Vejas. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Twin without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
