About the Fmg wearable PCB

Fmg wearable is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by leoswartzburg, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 22 × 35 mm, with 3 components from 3 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-nRF52840-Plus-SMD, from the Nordic nRF family. By type, the board carries 2 resistors and 1 IC.

It belongs with the wearables, sensors and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open-source force myography (FMG) wearable: custom PCB, TPU band, firmware, and a browser game you fly by squeezing

A forearm band that reads muscle activity mechanically. When a muscle contracts it bulges; a force-sensitive resistor pressed into the muscle belly turns that bulge into a continuous control signal. Add the onboard IMU and you get squeeze force + arm orientation from one small board.

Fmg wearable: common questions

What microcontroller does the Fmg wearable use?

The Fmg wearable is built around the XIAO-nRF52840-Plus-SMD, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Fmg wearable PCB?

The Fmg wearable measures 22 × 35 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Fmg wearable?

3 components, from 3 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Fmg wearable design files?

From the leoswartzburg/fmg-wearable repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Fmg wearable design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which leoswartzburg chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Fmg wearable without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
