About the UV reader PCB

UV reader is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by luissaya, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 70 mm, with 25 components from 16 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP8266-12E/ESP-12E, from the ESP8266 family. Other key parts include the LM1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 7 connectors, 4 capacitors, 2 ICs, 1 switch and 1 diode.

From the project

UV data colector with timestamp

Read UV-A and UV-B radiation each minute and save the values with timestamp on an micro SD card.

Calculus to obtain the reference voltaje for genering UV intensity:

- Vref is the reference value to obtain: - Vout: is read with multimeter. - Nread: is read with ADC.

In the main code, put the next expression:

UV reader: common questions

What microcontroller does the UV reader use?

The UV reader is built around the ESP8266-12E/ESP-12E, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the UV reader PCB?

The UV reader measures 70 × 70 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the UV reader?

25 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the UV reader design files?

From the luissaya/UV_reader repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the UV reader design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with luissaya. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the UV reader without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
