About the Keyboard PCB

Keyboard is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by ManoShu, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 298.5 × 127 mm, with 170 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the BL24C256A-SFRC, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 77 LEDs, 7 capacitors, 4 resistors, 1 IC, 1 crystal and 1 fuse.

It belongs with the keyboards and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

ABNT2-based 70% keyboard, with a sandwich case and display stand

An open-source, QMK-compatible, ABNT2-based 70% keyboard, focusing in a smaller footprint while retaining all the functions found on a TKL (Del and arrow keys doubling as the navigational cluster)

Note: this photo is of an early prototype of the case. The uploaded files has been updated to require less total area and WILL look slighty different than shown (the overall dimensions remain the same).

Keyboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Keyboard use?

The Keyboard is built around the BL24C256A-SFRC, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Keyboard PCB?

The Keyboard measures 298.5 × 127 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keyboard?

170 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keyboard design files?

From the ManoShu/BareDev repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keyboard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which ManoShu chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Keyboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
