Cnc etch a sketch

About the Cnc etch a sketch PCB

Cnc etch a sketch is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by mathewpwheatley, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 10 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the L298N. By type, the board carries 3 modules, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

CNC Etch-A-Sketch project using Arduino & PlatformIO.

A CNC-controlled Etch-A-Sketch that automatically draws pre-programmed designs using stepper motors. Built with Arduino and PlatformIO.

This project transforms a classic Etch-A-Sketch toy into an automated drawing machine. An Arduino Nano controls two stepper motors (one for each axis) to precisely manipulate the knobs and draw various patterns. Users can select from multiple pre-programmed designs using a potentiometer and trigger the drawing with a button.

Cnc etch a sketch: common questions

What microcontroller does the Cnc etch a sketch use?

The Cnc etch a sketch is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the Cnc etch a sketch?

10 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Cnc etch a sketch design files?

From the mathewpwheatley/cnc-etch-a-sketch repository on GitHub, which has the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Cnc etch a sketch design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which mathewpwheatley chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Cnc etch a sketch without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
