About the Final-Project-CPEG298 PCB

Final-Project-CPEG298 is an open source ESP8266 PCB design by MEarley, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 68.6 × 53.3 mm, with 18 components from 14 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP8266-01, from the ESP8266 family. By type, the board carries 7 connectors, 6 resistors, 2 diodes, 2 capacitors and 1 IC.

It belongs with the iot & wireless and sensors designs in this gallery.

SMART MFC IOT

The setup() function begins by setting up the serial monitor and the ESP8266 to a baud rate of 9600. Using the ESP8266, it connects to the internet to access Adafruit IO using both usernames and passwords given by the user. After the ESP8266 has successfully connected to Adafruit, analog pins for the light sensor, soil moisture sensor, and voltage reader are set. In addition, the DHT20 is set up using the freely accessible library by Rob Tillaart.

Final-Project-CPEG298: common questions

What microcontroller does the Final-Project-CPEG298 use?

The Final-Project-CPEG298 is built around the ESP8266-01, from the ESP8266 family.

How big is the Final-Project-CPEG298 PCB?

The Final-Project-CPEG298 measures 68.6 × 53.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Final-Project-CPEG298?

18 components, from 14 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Final-Project-CPEG298 design files?

From the MEarley/Final-Project-CPEG298 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Final-Project-CPEG298 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MEarley. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Final-Project-CPEG298 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP8266 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
