About the AeroBoard PCB

AeroBoard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by MehrResearch, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 80 mm, with 94 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 25 resistors, 20 connectors, 15 diodes, 13 transistors, 10 capacitors and 9 inductors.

From the project

Raspberry Pi Pico-based multichannel controller for programmable aerosol chemistry

This repository contains the KiCad project for AeroBoard, a Raspberry Pi Pico-based, multichannel controller for programmable aerosol chemistry. In addition to schematic and layout files, we have included baseline bill of materials (BOM) and component placement list (CPL) files for ordering pre-assembled boards or to populate the PCB after manufacture.

If you run into any issues, please feel free to contact us.

AeroBoard: common questions

What microcontroller does the AeroBoard use?

The AeroBoard is built around the Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the AeroBoard PCB?

The AeroBoard measures 80 × 80 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the AeroBoard?

94 components, from 18 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the AeroBoard design files?

From the MehrResearch/AeroBoard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the AeroBoard design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which MehrResearch chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the AeroBoard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
