About the Offshoots PCB
Offshoots is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by MiguelDeTrool, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 30 × 128.3 mm, with 49 components from 20 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP6002-xP and LM4040LP-5. By type, the board carries 16 resistors, 14 connectors, 6 capacitors, 2 ICs, 2 transistors and 2 switches.
It belongs with the test & measurement designs in this gallery.
From the project
DIY adaptation of Mutable Instruments' Branches
Offshoots is an easy to DIY, Arduino Nano based adaptation of Mutable Instruments' Branches. Heavily inspired by sound-force.nl's Through-Hole Braids and Quinie.nl's NanoGris.
Only functional difference with Branches is Offshoots doesn't "remember" which output is high when leaving latch mode and coming back to it again. It needs a new input to latch to one of the outputs.

Offshoots: common questions
What microcontroller does the Offshoots use?
The Offshoots is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Offshoots PCB?
The Offshoots measures 30 × 128.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Offshoots?
49 components, from 20 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Offshoots design files?
From the MiguelDeTrool/Offshoots repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Offshoots design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which MiguelDeTrool chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Offshoots without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
