About the ELiXiVy PCB

ELiXiVy is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by minibois, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 302.2 × 93.5 mm, with 166 components from 24 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega32U4-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the WE-TVS-82400102. By type, the board carries 75 LEDs, 69 diodes, 8 capacitors, 6 resistors, 2 ICs and 2 connectors.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

Repository of my project 'eLiXiVy'. A 65% mechanical keyboard PCB, which had the working title of 'mini-65'.

The PCB and schematic are licensed under CERN-OHL-S v2, full license details can be found here: https://github.com/minibois/eLiXiVy/blob/master/Documents/LICENSE.txt.

While the the bill of materials mentions tested compatible components, substitutes may be available, should these components become difficult to obtain. Should you choose alternatives, you do so at your own risk. I can only vouch for the compability of the listed components.

ELiXiVy: common questions

What microcontroller does the ELiXiVy use?

The ELiXiVy is built around the ATmega32U4-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the ELiXiVy PCB?

The ELiXiVy measures 302.2 × 93.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the ELiXiVy?

166 components, from 24 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the ELiXiVy design files?

From the minibois/eLiXiVy repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the ELiXiVy design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with minibois. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the ELiXiVy without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
