About the Scout PCB
Scout is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by morgobongo, published on GitHub under the Custom license license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 145.3 × 44.5 mm, with 38 components from 17 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LM386. By type, the board carries 18 switches, 6 capacitors, 5 resistors, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 1 crystal.
It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

- Beginner-friendly: All components are through-hole (instead of surface mount) for easier soldering, and full assembly takes about 45min. Standalone, battery-powered, doesn't need a computer or external speakers to work. Fun! - 3D-Printable: Besides the electronics and nuts and bolts, all parts are 3D-printed. And with a total width of ~160mm (about 6.3"), the Scout can fit on smaller, "Mini" (18x18x18cm) size print beds. -…

Scout: common questions
What microcontroller does the Scout use?
The Scout is built around the ATmega328P-PU, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Scout PCB?
The Scout measures 145.3 × 44.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Scout?
38 components, from 17 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Scout design files?
From the morgobongo/Mini_Synth repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Scout design in my own project?
It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.
Can I test firmware for the Scout without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
