About the CO2-PCB-Monitor

CO2-PCB-Monitor is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by morzack, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 82.5 × 35 mm, with 45 components from 25 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MAX7221XNG, MIC5205-5.0YM5 and MIC5366-3.3YC5. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 12 resistors, 5 ICs, 4 LEDs, 3 transistors and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the sensors and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Design and manufacturing files for a desktop atmospheric CO2 monitor

This repo contains the hardware and software required to manufacture and assemble a small seven segment CO2 monitor.

The monitor is built around a 4 digit seven segment display (with automatic dimming based on ambient light) that displays the current atmospheric CO2 concentration as measured by an Adafruit SCD-40 module over i2c.

In practice, this project can serve as a generic platform for any i2c module that might benefit from a 4 digit display. Potentially, other projects could be built around this architecture.

CO2-PCB-Monitor: common questions

What microcontroller does the CO2-PCB-Monitor use?

The CO2-PCB-Monitor is built around the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the CO2-PCB-Monitor?

The CO2-PCB-Monitor measures 82.5 × 35 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CO2-PCB-Monitor?

45 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CO2-PCB-Monitor design files?

From the morzack/CO2-PCB-Monitor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CO2-PCB-Monitor design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which morzack chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the CO2-PCB-Monitor without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
