About the PoE Ambient Sensor PCB
PoE Ambient Sensor is an open source STM32 PCB design by newAM, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 50 mm, with 54 components from 29 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the STM32F070CBTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the 25AA02E48T-I_OT, NCP1090, PG02S4803A and W5500. By type, the board carries 24 capacitors, 13 resistors, 7 crystals, 5 ICs, 3 diodes and 1 fuse.
It belongs with the sensors and iot & wireless designs in this gallery.
From the project
Ambient Environment Sensor for Home Assistant
When I started this project there were no high-sample rate luminosity sensors for home automation. The devices that did exist either had low sample rates (minutes vs milliseconds), or were designed for scientific applications.

PoE Ambient Sensor: common questions
What microcontroller does the PoE Ambient Sensor use?
The PoE Ambient Sensor is built around the STM32F070CBTx, from the STM32 family.
How big is the PoE Ambient Sensor PCB?
The PoE Ambient Sensor measures 80 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the PoE Ambient Sensor?
54 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the PoE Ambient Sensor design files?
From the newAM/AmbientSensor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the PoE Ambient Sensor design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which newAM chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the PoE Ambient Sensor without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
