About the FanController PCB

FanController is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by newAM, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 50 mm, with 48 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the NCP1090, PG02S4803A and W5100. By type, the board carries 17 capacitors, 15 resistors, 6 crystals, 4 ICs, 4 diodes and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

IR remote with Ethernet connectivity for home automation

The controller takes the states of the power, oscillation, mode, timer, and speed from Home Assistant. These values are used to build the IR code then transmit it through the IR LED.

FanController: common questions

What microcontroller does the FanController use?

The FanController is built around the ATMEGA328P-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the FanController PCB?

The FanController measures 80 × 50 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the FanController?

48 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the FanController design files?

From the newAM/FanController repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the FanController design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which newAM chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the FanController without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
