About the Pump controller PCB

Pump controller is an open source STM32 PCB design by nfranzwa, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 59 × 34.5 mm, with 53 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AP63205WU, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MAX3075E, TPS62163DSG and TPS62162DSG. By type, the board carries 17 capacitors, 13 connectors, 11 resistors, 4 ICs, 3 diodes and 2 inductors.

The provided code was developed using Arduino IDE and the Platform.io extension on VS Code. While it is possible to flash/deploy our software to an ESP32 through other means, we heavily recommend the two for ease of installing dependencies and following subsequent instructions.

Pump controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pump controller use?

The Pump controller is built around the AP63205WU, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Pump controller PCB?

The Pump controller measures 59 × 34.5 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pump controller?

53 components, from 29 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pump controller design files?

From the nfranzwa/OscillatingPump repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pump controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which nfranzwa chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Pump controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
