About the Yote PCB

Yote is an open source Nordic nRF PCB design by ninjasource, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 8-layer board measuring 23.4 × 12.8 mm, with 62 components from 31 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the NRF5340-CLAA, from the Nordic nRF family. Other key parts include the IM69D130V01XTSA1, CS47L63-CWZR, NPM1100-CAAA and XCL210C121GR-G. By type, the board carries 31 capacitors, 11 resistors, 6 ICs, 4 inductors, 3 diodes and 2 connectors.

Experiments in hearing

Requires Kicad 8.0 Step files for the 3D rendering of the board will be checked in soon but at the moment they are not in the project path and therefore not rendered correctly. This messes up the PCB Design Rule checker too. Kicad projects are a little tricky to setup to work on multiple machines because of all the internal and external library files involved.

Yote: common questions

What microcontroller does the Yote use?

The Yote is built around the NRF5340-CLAA, from the Nordic nRF family.

How big is the Yote PCB?

The Yote measures 23.4 × 12.8 mm, has 8 copper layers and is 1.22 mm thick.

How many components are on the Yote?

62 components, from 31 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Yote design files?

From the ninjasource/yote repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Yote design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which ninjasource chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Yote without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Nordic nRF firmware against it before you order a PCB.
