MechaTellis is an Adaptation/Remix of the Adafruit NeoTrellis RGB Driver PCB.

MechaTellis was designed by Steven Noreyko/denki-oto. Original NeoTrellis design by Limor Fried/Ladyada for Adafruit Industries.

These run the same NeoTrellis seesaw I2C chip and are fully software compatible with the NeoTrellis boards and projects.

MechaTrellis-4x4: common questions

What microcontroller does the MechaTrellis-4x4 use?

The MechaTrellis-4x4 is built around the ATSAMD09D14A-MU, from the Microchip SAM family.

How big is the MechaTrellis-4x4 PCB?

The MechaTrellis-4x4 measures 76.2 × 76.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MechaTrellis-4x4?

89 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MechaTrellis-4x4 design files?

From the okyeron/MechaTrellis-4x4-PCB repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MechaTrellis-4x4 design in my own project?

It is published under Custom license, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the MechaTrellis-4x4 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Microchip SAM firmware against it before you order a PCB.
