About the Step devices PCB
Step devices is an open source STM32 PCB design by OlinSTEP, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 12 × 20 mm, with 26 components from 21 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the STM32WB55CEU6TR, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LSM6DSO32TR, ANT016008LCS2442MA2, BQ297xy and TPS62840DLCR. By type, the board carries 11 capacitors, 5 ICs, 5 resistors, 1 transistor, 1 crystal and 1 antenna.
It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

This uses an Adafruit Feather ESP32 board to present as a Bluetooth keyboard. The current demo implements four functions when connected to an iPhone with VoiceOver turned on: move VoiceOver cursor to next item, move VoiceOver cursor to previous item, select current item, toggle display of onscreen keyboard.
The heavy lifting on the BLE side is handled by T-vK's ESP32-BLE-Keyboard library. We did make a minor change to add the media eject button as an additional control.

Step devices: common questions
What microcontroller does the Step devices use?
The Step devices is built around the STM32WB55CEU6TR, from the STM32 family.
How big is the Step devices PCB?
The Step devices measures 12 × 20 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 0.8 mm thick.
How many components are on the Step devices?
26 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Step devices design files?
From the OlinSTEP/step-devices repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Step devices design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with OlinSTEP. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Step devices without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
