About the Mochaboard PCB

Mochaboard is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by OneJame, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 328.7 × 122.3 mm, with 128 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 66 switches, 61 diodes and 1 module.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A dvorak 60% keyboard with linear switches for when you've had one too many mochas and need to type as fast as possible.

I started designing the 'Mochaboard' (named after the best caffieneted drink) because I feel most keyboards now are full of unnescary features and don't achieve what a good keyboard is - allow for extremely fast typing. The mochaboard is purely a keyboard, nothing else. No screens, no knobs, just keys.

Project is extremely simple but sometimes it's the simplest things in life that just work... and that's what I'm looking for in a keyboard, something that works.

Mochaboard: common questions

What microcontroller does the Mochaboard use?

The Mochaboard is built around the RaspberryPi_Pico, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Mochaboard PCB?

The Mochaboard measures 328.7 × 122.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Mochaboard?

128 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Mochaboard design files?

From the OneJame/Mochaboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Mochaboard design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with OneJame. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Mochaboard without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
