About the Power board

Power board is an open source STM32 PCB design by open-dynamic-robot-initiative, published on GitHub under the BSD-2-Clause license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 65 × 35 mm, with 55 components from 32 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LTC7001IMSE#PBF, INA239, MAX17501BxTB and MCP1700-3302E_SOT23. By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 13 connectors, 8 resistors, 5 ICs, 3 diodes and 2 switches.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

Power Management and distribution board for Open Dynamic Robot Initiative Robots

- 40A 32V DC load switching - Inrush current limiting - Monitor voltage, Current and Energy - Under voltage, Over current shutdown with settable thresholds - Telemetry, load switching via SPI

- "Power OFF" push button NORMALLY CLOSED between 1 and 2 - "Power ON" push button NORMALLY OPEN between 2 and 3

During programming, short pins 1-2-3 together for the MCU to stay powered at anytime.

Power board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Power board use?

The Power board is built around the STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Power board?

The Power board measures 65 × 35 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Power board?

55 components, from 32 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Power board design files?

From the open-dynamic-robot-initiative/power-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Power board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-2-Clause license, which open-dynamic-robot-initiative chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Power board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
