A saw that uses photons to cut sheets of acrylic and wood

Too small/few power vias (on the +24V/GND main power rails) Wrong foot print for Q3 (BC807 for USB pull up): Swapped pin 1 and 2 The PWM and Fire optocouplers are too slow replace them with one VO 2630-X007T which can do 10 MHz. Add diode to the main fire signal that goes to the WD to make it impossible for the WD to fire the laser on its own. Switch the small mini-melf diodes to SOT-23, even where only one diode is needed (easier to mount). BC817 is too slow, replace with NX3008NBK A 3-pin serial connector for the chiller. A 6p header connector to bring +24 V on-board and connect to the…

PhotonSaw: common questions

What microcontroller does the PhotonSaw use?

The PhotonSaw is built around the ATMEGA328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How many components are on the PhotonSaw?

244 components, from 70 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PhotonSaw design files?

From the openspaceaarhus/PhotonSaw repository on GitHub, which has a netlist; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PhotonSaw design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which openspaceaarhus chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the PhotonSaw without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
