Oscil

About the Oscil PCB

Oscil is an open source ESP32 PCB design by pajsimbulan, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a board, with 25 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-S3-N16R8-DEVBOARD, from the ESP32 family. Other key parts include the ADS7883. By type, the board carries 6 switches, 6 capacitors, 6 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 diodes and 1 connector.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts, iot & wireless and test & measurement designs in this gallery.

From the project

Two-channel touchscreen oscilloscope and function generator on three ESP32-S3s. Register-level drivers, FreeRTOS, DMA, LVGL, OTA updates with rollback, and a Supabase cloud backend.

Status: schematic complete, ERC clean. All three boards are built and running on breadboards: every assigned GPIO was checked against the schematic, the analog rail has extra decoupling, and the front end runs from a regulated 5 V adapter (see the build logs).

Oscil: common questions

What microcontroller does the Oscil use?

The Oscil is built around the ESP32-S3-N16R8-DEVBOARD, from the ESP32 family.

How many components are on the Oscil?

25 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Oscil design files?

From the pajsimbulan/oscil repository on GitHub, which has the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Oscil design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which pajsimbulan chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Oscil without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
