About the Smu front PCB

Smu front is an open source PCB design by PaulBichl, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 150 × 45 mm, with 18 components from 10 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SR420561N, TM1640(TA2103) and SN74LV1T125DBVR. By type, the board carries 6 diodes, 5 ICs, 4 capacitors, 2 switches and 1 connector.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

VibePCB example: 4-quadrant SMU (+-30 V / +-1 A, USB-C PD, Ethernet) designed with an LLM

A 1-channel, 4-quadrant source/measure unit (bipolar lab supply that also sinks): +-30 V, +-1 A, powered from a USB-C PD charger (20 V), controlled over Ethernet, voltage and current on two 4-digit 7-segment displays. Designed with VibePCB (tscircuit -> KiCad).

The boards are joined by a 10-way ribbon (main J5 front J1). The output terminal (main J3: HI, S+, S-, LO) is wired to front-panel binding posts; the OPA548 (TO-220-7) bolts to a heatsink on the rear panel (with a fan on J4).

Smu front: common questions

How big is the Smu front PCB?

The Smu front measures 150 × 45 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Smu front?

18 components, from 10 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Smu front design files?

From the PaulBichl/vibepcb-smu repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Smu front design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with PaulBichl. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
