Its main chip is the STM32G431RBT6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the STUSB4500QTR, USBLC6-2SC6, LMR51635YDDCR, AP2112K-3.3TRG1 and ME6211C33M5G-N. By type, the board carries 103 capacitors, 84 resistors, 17 ICs, 12 diodes, 6 connectors and 6 inductors.

It belongs with the displays & leds and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

VibePCB example: 4-quadrant SMU (+-30 V / +-1 A, USB-C PD, Ethernet) designed with an LLM

A 1-channel, 4-quadrant source/measure unit (bipolar lab supply that also sinks): +-30 V, +-1 A, powered from a USB-C PD charger (20 V), controlled over Ethernet, voltage and current on two 4-digit 7-segment displays. Designed with VibePCB (tscircuit -> KiCad).

The boards are joined by a 10-way ribbon (main J5 front J1). The output terminal (main J3: HI, S+, S-, LO) is wired to front-panel binding posts; the OPA548 (TO-220-7) bolts to a heatsink on the rear panel (with a fan on J4).

Smu main: common questions

What microcontroller does the Smu main use?

The Smu main is built around the STM32G431RBT6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Smu main PCB?

The Smu main measures 160 × 100 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Smu main?

240 components, from 86 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Smu main design files?

From the PaulBichl/vibepcb-smu repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Smu main design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with PaulBichl. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Smu main without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
