KiCad Project and Gerbers for a SNES LoROM Cartridge without Save functionality

This repository contains the KiCad project and Gerber files for a Super Nintendo LoROM Cartridge without Save functionality that allows to create replica cartridges using 27C400, 27C800 and 27C160 EPROMS. When you have SNES cartridge images (usually SFC files), you can burn one or more of them onto the EPROM (depending on the size), and use the cartridge on your SNES like a normal cartridge.

SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save: common questions

What microcontroller does the SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save use?

The SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save is built around the PIC12F629-IP, from the PIC family.

How big is the SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save PCB?

The SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save measures 102 × 58 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save?

12 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save design files?

From the pdaehne/SNES-LoROM-Cartridge-wo-Save repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the SNES-LoROM-Cartridge wo-Save without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug PIC firmware against it before you order a PCB.
