About the S.O-Dongle PCB

S.O-Dongle is an open source WCH CH32/CH55x PCB design by phantom-ascii, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 17.7 × 60.9 mm, with 7 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the CH552G, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family. By type, the board carries 2 connectors, 2 capacitors, 1 IC, 1 switch and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

A dongle pcb made by me that displays your pcs stats on an oled. Made for https://dongle.hackclub.com/

This project was made fully by me for the #dongle program on hackclub.com. Thx to the team for hosting this program Ive always had a love for creating and tech so when you put the 2 together you get hardware and hence i am here creating a dongle with softwares ive never touched before but its all part of the journey. At the moment the software is only written for Ubuntu (my daily driver) but i may write some for other os'.

S.O-Dongle: common questions

What microcontroller does the S.O-Dongle use?

The S.O-Dongle is built around the CH552G, from the WCH CH32/CH55x family.

How big is the S.O-Dongle PCB?

The S.O-Dongle measures 17.7 × 60.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 2 mm thick.

How many components are on the S.O-Dongle?

7 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the S.O-Dongle design files?

From the phantom-ascii/S.O-Dongle repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the S.O-Dongle design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with phantom-ascii. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the S.O-Dongle without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug WCH CH32/CH55x firmware against it before you order a PCB.
