Duplex variant of MMDVM_HS_Hat

This PCB uses the MMDVM_HS by Andy CA6JAU. It has two ADF7021 onboard and allows for duplex operation with two time slots on DMR.

LEDs D4 and D5 interchanged to align with scan order. Solder jumper JP1 was added. It can be closed if the board is used on Raspberry Pi only. It ties BOOT1 to GND. BOOT0 is controlled via GPIO. The 2x3 pin header can be unpopulated in this case to save space. We placed two coils on U1 and U2 for experiments with extended VCO. These are L11 and L12 and they are optional and do not need to be inserted for UHF use. Testpoints TP1 and TP2 on backside allows the…

MMDVM HS Dual Hat: common questions

What microcontroller does the MMDVM HS Dual Hat use?

The MMDVM HS Dual Hat is built around the STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the MMDVM HS Dual Hat?

The MMDVM HS Dual Hat measures 65 × 56 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MMDVM HS Dual Hat?

117 components, from 50 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MMDVM HS Dual Hat design files?

From the phl0/MMDVM_HS_Dual_Hat repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MMDVM HS Dual Hat design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with phl0. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the MMDVM HS Dual Hat without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
