About the Vdcmon PCB

Vdcmon is an open source PCB design by pietern, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 60 mm, with 44 components from 16 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the FOD817A. By type, the board carries 16 resistors, 12 ICs, 12 connectors and 4 transistors.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

Voltage monitoring switchboard

KiCad files for 4-channel voltage monitoring switchboard.

Channels are fully isolated from each other and a common ground is not required. Channel isolation is achieved using FT817 opto-isolators.

Voltage on any set of channels can be used to enable all outputs. Whether or not a channel enables all outputs can be selected using a jumper. With a jumper in place, a voltage on the channel switches on all opto-isolators for that channel, which in turn turn on the output MOSFETs.

Vdcmon: common questions

How big is the Vdcmon PCB?

The Vdcmon measures 70 × 60 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Vdcmon?

44 components, from 16 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Vdcmon design files?

From the pietern/vdcmon repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Vdcmon design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with pietern. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
