About the PIU LED DRIVER MAIN PCB

PIU LED DRIVER MAIN is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by pogof, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 85 × 77 mm, with 78 components from 37 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the KIA7039, MSGEQ7 and SP232EEN. By type, the board carries 21 capacitors, 15 resistors, 5 ICs, 5 inductors, 4 connectors and 4 jumpers.

From the project

Schematics and reference PCB design for PIU LX EQ and LED DRIVER Boards

Before you continue reading: Both boards are relatively simple, both based on AtMega238p and both running the same code. Both original board types have the chip unlocked, meaning that with some programmer or even just Arduino running the Example programmer sketch you can read the code and flash it to another.

If you have a board that died you can first try to revive it by flashing code downloaded from a working board. If that doesn't work, try checking for component failure (caps shorted, ...), replace the AtMega238p and flash again.

PIU LED DRIVER MAIN: common questions

What microcontroller does the PIU LED DRIVER MAIN use?

The PIU LED DRIVER MAIN is built around the ATmega328P-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the PIU LED DRIVER MAIN PCB?

The PIU LED DRIVER MAIN measures 85 × 77 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the PIU LED DRIVER MAIN?

78 components, from 37 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the PIU LED DRIVER MAIN design files?

From the pogof/PIU-LX-EQ-and-LED-DRIVER-Boards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the PIU LED DRIVER MAIN design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with pogof. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the PIU LED DRIVER MAIN without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
