About the E dice PCB

E dice is an open source PCB design by polaracep, published on GitHub under the AGPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 105.5 × 34.5 mm, with 48 components from 20 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the 4017. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 8 connectors, 7 transistors, 7 diodes, 3 capacitors and 2 switches.

A collection of easy-to-solder boards for learning soldering

A shakeable dice with semi-random number generator.

PCB has 3 parts, which have to be mounted on top of one another. I used just male/female sockets, although not testing the durability of such mounting style. Each part has UP and DOWN written on them, signalizing the orientation and then one of three position descriptors (BOT, MID, TOP). The assembly follows this diagram:

E dice: common questions

How big is the E dice PCB?

The E dice measures 105.5 × 34.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the E dice?

48 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the E dice design files?

From the polaracep/soldering-kits repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the E dice design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its AGPL-3.0 license, which polaracep chose for the repository.
