About the Magnum-60 PCB

Magnum-60 is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by poojithas956, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 291.9 × 101.4 mm, with 132 components from 18 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the RP2040-ZERO, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 62 diodes, 61 switches, 2 connectors, 1 IC and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A compact 60% mechanical keyboard designed for minimal desk space.

I use my keyboard for school every day, so I wanted to build one that is actually mine from scratch.

Main goals I set for myself: - Design a full 60% PCB in KiCad (61 keys) - Use hot-swap MX footprints so it is easy to test switches - Keep the design manufacturable and not just a concept render - Learn the full pipeline: schematic -> PCB -> 3D model -> production files

Magnum-60: common questions

What microcontroller does the Magnum-60 use?

The Magnum-60 is built around the RP2040-ZERO, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the Magnum-60 PCB?

The Magnum-60 measures 291.9 × 101.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Magnum-60?

132 components, from 18 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Magnum-60 design files?

From the poojithas956/Magnum-60 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Magnum-60 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which poojithas956 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Magnum-60 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
