About the Tachometer Rev A PCB

Tachometer Rev A is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by PotatoX, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-NC-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 78.6 × 60.8 mm, with 37 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ArduinoProMini, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the LM1117-5.0, TSP-05 and PCF8574. By type, the board carries 6 connectors, 5 fuses, 4 ICs, 4 transistors, 4 LEDs and 4 diodes.

Cheap benchtop wood cutting band saw -> decent metal cutting

Recently I needed (had an excuse to get) a band saw capable of cutting metal for a few of my projects. As with most of my projects/hobbies there are a number of outcomes I seek:

To this end I started shopping around to acquire a band saw as cheap as possible as it would only be used on a limited basis for hobby work. I need the saw to be able to cut metal and fit a small foot print on my bench. I wanted the saw to be vertical in order to minimize the space consumed as my bench and garage space is at a premium at this point.

Tachometer Rev A: common questions

What microcontroller does the Tachometer Rev A use?

The Tachometer Rev A is built around the ArduinoProMini, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Tachometer Rev A PCB?

The Tachometer Rev A measures 78.6 × 60.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Tachometer Rev A?

37 components, from 26 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Tachometer Rev A design files?

From the PotatoX/Band_Saw_Conversion repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Tachometer Rev A design in my own project?

It is published under CC-BY-NC-4.0, which limits how it may be reused; read the license before building on it.

Can I test firmware for the Tachometer Rev A without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
