About the SeniorProject PCB

SeniorProject is an open source NXP PCB design by Quasardilla, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 32.8 × 51 mm, with 20 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Teensy 4.0, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the HX711 and MPR121QR2. By type, the board carries 8 resistors, 4 capacitors, 3 ICs, 1 module, 1 transistor and 1 connector.

From the project

Designed as part of a Senior Project for my final year in Highschool

Scroll: When the touchpad is pressed and moved across, the voice coil gives a very light kick for every movement in the X or Y direction

Simulated Scroll: When the touchpad is being scrolled across, and the user lets go, the micro calculates how often a scroll click should happen given the velocity of the movement before it was released. The voice coil reacts as though it's scrolling from an actual interaction

SeniorProject: common questions

What microcontroller does the SeniorProject use?

The SeniorProject is built around the Teensy 4.0, from the NXP family.

How big is the SeniorProject PCB?

The SeniorProject measures 32.8 × 51 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the SeniorProject?

20 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the SeniorProject design files?

From the Quasardilla/Senior-Project repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the SeniorProject design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Quasardilla. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the SeniorProject without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
