rp2040 cw beacon with audio and key outputs
A Morse-code beacon controller built around the Waveshare RP2040-Zero module (Raspberry Pi RP2040), designed for keying an HF/VHF FM/SSB/CW transmitter.
- Firmware — generates a sine audio tone, controls the transmitter PTT and CW key, transmits a configurable message stored in flash and repeats it with a configurable pause. All parameters are configurable at runtime over a USB serial console and persist across power cycles. - Controller board (KiCad) — power supply 8–15 V, audio output with attenuator and low-pass filter, open-collector PTT and CW key outputs, supply voltage divider and…

Rp2040-cw beacon: common questions
What microcontroller does the Rp2040-cw beacon use?
The Rp2040-cw beacon is built around the RP2040-Zero, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.
How big is the Rp2040-cw beacon PCB?
The Rp2040-cw beacon measures 75 × 32 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Rp2040-cw beacon?
33 components, from 18 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Rp2040-cw beacon design files?
From the ra0sms/rp2040-cw-beacon repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Rp2040-cw beacon design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ra0sms. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Rp2040-cw beacon without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
