About the GridCore PCB

GridCore is an open source RP2040/RP2350 PCB design by Rainier-PS, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 44.8 × 73.8 mm, with 16 components from 6 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family. By type, the board carries 4 switches, 4 diodes, 4 resistors and 3 connectors.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

GridCore is a modular 2×2 LED grid game and tool platform built for the Xiao RP2040.

GridCore is a lightweight, open-source mini game console using only 4 buttons and a 2×2 LED grid. GridCore is designed to be fun, hackable, and extendable. It runs simple games like reaction challenges with plans for more in future updates. (more games)

- Reaction-based game logic that gets harder with each level - Built-in splash screen animation - MX keys 4-button control - Organized, human-readable code - Easily expandable architecture for additional games/tools

GridCore: common questions

What microcontroller does the GridCore use?

The GridCore is built around the XIAO-RP2040-DIP, from the RP2040/RP2350 family.

How big is the GridCore PCB?

The GridCore measures 44.8 × 73.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the GridCore?

16 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the GridCore design files?

From the Rainier-PS/GridCore repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the GridCore design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Rainier-PS. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the GridCore without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug RP2040/RP2350 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
