About the Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project PCB

Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project is an open source NXP PCB design by ratdo6, published on GitHub. It is a board, with 4 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Teensy4.1, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the SN65HVD230, Pololu_D24V50F5 and BNO055.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

Cycloid Actuator - 9:1 - 8308 BLDC Motor - Teensy 4.1 - Moteus r4.11 - 3D Printed

Inexpensive · Teensy 4.1 · Backdrivable · 3D printed · Moteus r4.11 FOC · CAN bus · Low backlash · ROS2 · BLDC motor

A custom cycloidal gearbox and actuator designed for a quadruped robot. Built around an 8308 BLDC motor, mjbots moteus r4.11, teensy 4.1, 3D printing, and ROS2. It takes advantage of the easy to manufacture cycloid geometry to create a cheap, but efficient actuator. This project is an opportunity for me to learn new skills and hone my strengths as an engineer. It is still in the early phases of development.

Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project: common questions

What microcontroller does the Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project use?

The Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project is built around the Teensy4.1, from the NXP family.

How many components are on the Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project?

4 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project design files?

From the ratdo6/Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project repository on GitHub, which has the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ratdo6. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Cycloidal-Actuator-Design-Project without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
