About the Pcb-2

Pcb-2 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by rek, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 147.9 × 86 mm, with 43 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Pro_Micro, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the TRRS. By type, the board carries 21 switches, 20 diodes and 2 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

Split 42-key Kailh Choc V1 keyboard. Two Pro Micro (atmega32u4) halves over TRRS serial.

Original single-sided design. Worked well as a left half. No dedicated right PCB.

Intended to be a proper left + right pair. Due to a mirroring error in KiCad the "right" PCB was generated with all components on the wrong copper layers, making it effectively a second left. This version went into production — many copies exist.

Pcb-2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Pcb-2 use?

The Pcb-2 is built around the Arduino_Pro_Micro, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Pcb-2?

The Pcb-2 measures 147.9 × 86 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Pcb-2?

43 components, from 4 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Pcb-2 design files?

From the rek/keyboards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Pcb-2 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with rek. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Pcb-2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
